So many teachers are always looking for a way to make extra money. If you’re like me, you’ve probably tried it all — online teaching, tutoring, afterschool programs, Etsy shop, making shirts, selling your teaching resources on TpT (which I do and HIGHLY recommend). As educators, we are always looking for the best side hustles to supplement the not so luxurious income we make.
However, having tried every single side hustle listed above, I have to let you in on a little secret. One of the best side hustles for teachers is something I only discovered about 3 months ago. But, it has quickly become one of my favorite ways to make money (right behind selling my resources on Teachers Pay Teachers).
This best kept teacher side hustle is semi-passive and I don’t often feel like I’m trading time for money. This is something I really value in extra income earning opportunities. I have two kiddos and the last thing I want to do after work is MORE WORK. I like to have my evenings free to spend with my family and not stress over clocking in, staying late at work, or putting in extra hours on the computer for online teaching jobs (which I have done and they served a great purpose in that season, they just aren’t for me at this stage of life).

So What is the Best Side Hustle for Teachers
The best side hustle for teachers, the one I cannot believe I didn’t know about sooner and wish I had started years ago… you won’t even believe what it is or how simple it is.
⭐️It’s Amazon reviews.⭐️
Now, before you roll your eyes and say this program is not legit or it’s only for influencers with massive followings, I am here to tell you that I thought those same things and sadly, this made me put off pursuing this as a way to earn extra money for my family.
One of my biggest regrets was not doing my own research and giving it a try sooner.
What is the Amazon Review Program
The Amazon video review program is part of the influencer program. Once accepted into the program, you can create video reviews of products on Amazon, tag the product, and submit the video to your storefront. Then, Amazon does the heavy lifting and will choose which videos get placed on product pages. If someone views your video and purchases that product or a related product, you earn a commission.
This is great news for a few reasons. There are hundreds of thousands of shoppers on Amazon every single day. If someone is looking at a product on Amazon, that means they are already a “warm” shopper and ready to buy. This means your conversion rate is likely to be a lot higher than with most other programs, affiliate links, etc.
*As an Amazon associate, I earn from qualifying purchases at no additional cost to you. This post may contain affiliate links. You can read my full privacy policy and disclosure here.
But Wait, I Have Questions About the Review Program!
You and me both! Before I started, I had so many questions and concerns. To be honest, I was really skeptical that this could be a legit side hustle for teachers.
One common question is, do you need to be an established influencer with thousands of followers? No, you don’t. It’s a misconception that you need 10k followers to be accepted into this program. You will need a small, active, public social media account, which many teachers already have these days. I have less than 3,000 followers and I was accepted. Many others who do reviews get accepted with 200-300 followers. Some even less! As long as your page is public and you have followers who engage with your content, you should be good.
Do you have to show your face in the review videos? The answer to this is also NO. I have done nearly all of my review videos faceless and I have still been successful. That’s a huge sigh of relief for us shy, introverted teachers! Although you can certainly be in the videos if you want.
I Have More Questions
Do you have to share links to your videos to earn commissions? NOPE! Your upload videos to your Amazon storefront and Amazon and sellers decide which videos are placed on product pages when a product is tagged. You don’t have to share anything to be eligible to make commissions.
Do you have to constantly buy new products from Amazon to review them? ALSO NO. You can review anything you own that is sold on Amazon. If you’re like me, you probably have TONS of items from Amazon in your home or classrooms. Things like home decor, children’s books, baby toys, clothes, shoes, pet items, furniture. I was shocked at how many items I already own that are from Amazon. If you aren’t sure, they have a scanner in the app that allows you to scan an item to see if it’s sold on Amazon. So far I’ve reviewed over 100 items and probably have 300+ on my list that I still need to review.

Learn How to Start the Best Side Hustle for Teachers: Join the Amazon Review Program
If you are ready to start Amazon reviews, I linked below the courses that taught me step-by-step how to get into the program and start earning with reviews.
I have found this to be a lot easier way to earn money than their affiliate link program because there are already hundreds of thousands of people on Amazon every day shopping and Amazon helps me get my videos in front of those customers. I made over $150 my first month with maybe 30-40 review videos posted. It has continued to grow and I’m excited to give you all an update around the 6 month mark.
Of course, as a disclaimer, I have to tell you: these are my earnings and this is my personal experience. I cannot guarantee your earnings. What each person does or does not earn depends on their individual expertise, effort, and abilities. Some people earn far more than I do, and some earn far less.
